Thousand Herbs and Vegetable Garden

The Thornybush Collection, along with the support from a variety of other donating organisations, help an agricultural co-operative, “Thousand Herbs and Vegetable Garden”, and a primary school garden, “Dixie Permaculture Project”, in a number of areas including business strategy, financial and administrative support, sales/marketing effort, logistics and infrastructure development.

Manyangana High School

After almost nine years working together, the co-operative of nine women now operate adjacent to the Manyangana High School in Utah. For the past four years they have been renting a portion of land from the school where they grow quality herbs, vegetables and edible flowers that are sold to local game lodges in the area, a couple of retailers and to their immediate community.

Hananani Primary School

Hananani Permaculture Project is a garden we helped create in February 2014. It is based at Hananani Primary School in Dixie, the closest village to the Sabi Sand (North) Game Reserve. The garden’s primary purpose is to grow and supply vegetables to the school kitchen which is responsible for providing each of the 180 young primary school children with a more nutritious meal during every school day.
