Supporting Our Local Community

The Thornybush Luxury Game Lodge Collection created The Thornybush Community Projects, a non-profit organisation established with the objective of nurturing and uplifting our surrounding local community.

The majority of our staff coming from the surrounding local communities, so we see it as our duty to do our best to make a positive contribution, especially with the needs that are continually evident within such a rural setting.

We are currently supporting a primary school and a high school, we assist an agricultural business that successfully supplies surrounding lodges and shops with fresh quality produce, we initiated and nurture a vegetable garden at the primary school and we support a local NGO that focuses on medical care for farm workers and child support for their kids, while also successfully operating an agricultural component.

All proceeds that are generated from within the projects (for example through produce sales), are re-invested back into the development of these projects. All capital expenditure and any shortfalls are funded by private donors, guest donations and the Thornybush Community Project.

Our Thornybush Community Project Manager is Gavin te Brake. He is based in the Sabi Sand area and is responsible for overseeing and project managing all our community projects on a full time basis. He is fully funded by The Thornybush Community Project.
